My favorite part of my job is telling stories. People ask me all the time if shooting weddings every gets old, or if you get tired of seeing the same things over and over again. But I always reply with no, because every wedding is so different. Every couple has a unique story that I get the opportunity to be a part of documenting. What makes it even better is when I have the honor of being friends with my couples before they become clients and walk one of the sweetest seasons with them. Especially when I get to be a part of the proposal. And that’s what happen with these two — from proposal, to engagement session, to their wedding day, I got to be a part of it all, and my oh my what an incredibly journey it’s been.
When I first met Kaitlen, I knew from the start that she was a one-of-a-kind gemstone who deserved the world. Her laugh lightens up even the darkest days, and her genuine heart is incomparable. Before she even met Luke, I knew that whoever was going to come into her life and sweep her off her feet had to be someone pretty dang amazing. Then here comes Luke waltzing into her life, and sure enough, he did sweep her off her feet. But the world needs to know that Luke Forman is a gem himself who truly blows me away, not only by how he pursues Kaitlen, but how he pursues a relationship with Jesus. And how those two things shine so brightly in his life.
Fast forward to the wedding day, the anticipation for this day was so thick you could feel it. A long awaited ending to a season of joy, planning, and waiting. It was finally here.
As soon as I arrived to this day, Kaitlen told me that Luke was going to weep when he opened her gift, and sure enough she was right. As Luke flipped through the pages of a journal his bride had been working on since 2012, a solid 3 years before she ever met her now husband. (in the words of Kaitlen’s sister — ) “It was a particular journal written to a single man: her future husband. For multiple years, she would write the deepest parts of her heart in this journal, that ultimately ended up telling a story that led to this guy becoming her husband. Luke didn’t know of the journal until it was time for the bride and groom to exchange gifts and this moment captured was the response of it all, knowing you’ve been thought of, prayed for and hoped upon before paths even crossed.
To me, this picture defines the magnitude of what God intends love to look like: grounded, powerful, cherished, vulnerable and beyond moving.he was overcome with the sweetest (and powerful) emotions that transferred all the way into their first look. This set of images truly show the deep love this man has for his bride.”
This will forever be one of my favorite moments we’ve captured.
